Novant Health UVA's nurse residency program allows new graduate nurses time to gradually assume the duties and responsibilities that accompany the nursing role. This comprehensive transition-to-practice program includes system orientation, unit-based preceptorship, monthly seminars, socialization activities, and a mentor group.
We will hire into the residency program multiple times this year.
- Applicants must complete the online application entirely and attach a resume. Specialty track preference can be included in the resume objective but it is not required. Specialty tracks available are:
- Medical Surgical
- Critical Care
- Behavioral Health
- Women’s and Children’s
- Surgical Services
Incomplete résumés may not be accepted.

Applicants that receive an offer for the residency must have a valid RN license and current CPR certification before the start of their orientation date.
Unlike many nurse residency programs that are only six-months long, our is a comprenshive, tweleve-month program designed to fully prepare and transition you and your career into a professional practice through:

- A guided preceptorship

- Socialization opportunites
- A personalized development plan
During your first year, you have the option to rotate to a different specialty. This time allows you to experience different patient populations/ settings and find your perfect fit as a Novant Health UVA Health System nurse.
This program allows you the opportunity to gain the confidence and experience you need to transition to practice successfully!
Those selected to interview will be sent an invitation to the residency interview day for that specific cohort.
