If you are facing chronic pain in your upper back, lower back or neck, we may be able to help you move more easily and with less pain. Our team has experience treating spinal conditions in patients who are ages 18 and older. We also are able to care for children and adults who have minor orthopedic concerns in other parts of the body. We treat a number of spinal conditions and general orthopedic concerns, including:

  • Herniated discs
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • A spinal bone (vertebrae) that has slipped out of place, causing pain (spondylolisthesis)
  • Arthritis in your back or neck (spinal arthritis)
  • A C-shaped curve in your spine (scoliosis)
  • Narrowing of your spinal cavity (spinal stenosis)
  • Spinal fractures
  • Pain or side effects that develop after a spinal fusion procedure, including adjacent segment disease
  • Minor orthopedic conditions such as simple fractures and sports injuries

Our team has experience performing a range of treatments and procedures that can help with these conditions, including:

  • Minimally invasive spinal fusion surgeries such as TLIFs and XLIFs to relieve back pain
  • Motion-sparing surgeries such as cervical disc replacement, which can relieve neck pain without spinal fusion
  • Minimally invasive surgery to remove a small part of the spinal bone or disc near an irritated nerve (microdiscectomies)
  • Revision surgeries to treat side effects such as spinal infections that can occur after spine surgery

If your care team determines that surgery is a necessary part of your treatment plan, our surgeon may operate at UVA Prince William Medical Center and UVA Haymarket Medical Center.
