Student nurses participate in inaugural Student Nurse Apprentice Program
Twelve student nurses from the northern Virginia market participated in our inaugural Student Nurse Apprentice Program, also known as SNAP. The 10-week program enabled students to gain valuable experience across multiple clinical areas and service lines. Eighty percent of the Virginia students who participated are pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing from area universities, including George Washington University and Chamberlain College of Nursing. During the apprentice program, the students’ responsibilities ranged from documenting patient assessments under the supervision of a registered nurse, to tech assistant roles including specimen collection and assisting with simple wound care, among other tasks.
