Lights of hope vigils honor individuals with addiction
On Sept. 7, Novant Health UVA Health System held candlelight vigils to honor individuals with the disease of addiction. Participants wrapped white, flameless LED candles in one of four ribbons to represent the impact of addiction on their lives. The 30-minute events were open to all Novant Health UVA Health System team members and their loved ones.
The brain diseases of addiction and mental illness are themes addressed in this year’s Novant Health Reads book, A Common Struggle by former congressman Patrick Kennedy. Our hope is that individuals and their loved ones can come together in this time, finding community, hope and support.
