In 2017, Novant Health UVA Health System launched various programs to provide education and screenings to our community.
Our comprehensive women’s heart health program began in February 2017 at Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center. Participants receive a 60-minute, one-on-one appointment with a heart health specialist for a flat fee of $25. Each appointment includes a cholesterol check; blood sugar test; blood pressure reading; height, weight and body mass index (BMI) assessment; and individualized review of other risk factors, such as family history and lifestyle, along with how to get follow-up care, if needed. Although the program is geared towards women, men are more than welcome to also make a screening appointment.
In September, Novant Health UVA Health System joined the 10,000 Healthy Hearts Challenge aimed at educating people in the region about their heart health. Community members are encouraged to take the challenge by completing the online heart disease risk assessment that analyzes cardiovascular risk factors, including blood pressure, cigarette smoking, diabetes and body mass index. Once the challenge is accepted, individuals will continue to receive helpful wellness tips, recipe ideas and stress management reminders to manage their heart health.
In support of American Heart Month in February, Novant Health UVA Health System is hosting the following events in our communities:
