Here is useful information related to Caton Merchant House for our current residents, their families, and visitors.

Visitor access

Masked visitors over the age of 12 are welcome at any time. The front door is locked from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. If you are expecting late visitors, please advise someone at the main nursing station. If someone visits you unexpectedly between the hours of 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., there is an intercom located on the right side of the foyer. A nursing assistant will let your visitor in after hours if the intercom is used. Visitors can also call 703-335-8495 if they need access to the building after the door is locked.

Sign in, sign out

If you are leaving the building for any reason (other than outings with the facility), please sign out at the podium by the front door and sign in when you return. All visitors are requested to sign in and out when they enter and leave the building so the staff knows who is in the building in the event of an emergency.

Be involved in your care

To provide you with remarkable care, we have established monthly and quarterly meetings to gather input from our current residents and family members. You can attend any of the following meetings:

  • Activity Planning - A monthly meeting with residents and team members to help plan activities in the community
  • Resident council - Open forum that meets monthly to gain facility information, voice grievances, and problem solve.
  • Menu Planning - Monthly meeting to help bring new ideas to our menu and enhance the community dining experience.
  • Quarterly Service Plan Meetings - Monthly meeting with family, residents and team to focus on services provided to insure great quality of life.
