PROactive is your concussion awareness group at Novant Health UVA Health System
PROactive is a group designed to help student-athletes, parents and adults of any age who are suffering from prolonged concussion symptoms.
The purpose of this group is to help with the healing process, answer questions and look for recommendations regarding concussion symptoms under the facilitation of a licensed psychologist.
- These meetings will be led by Karen Bagley, PhD, MPH, who has a public health background.
- This awareness group is the first of its kind in this county, which will provide a safe and welcoming environment for any age.

Karen Bagley, PhD, MPH
Novant Health UVA Health System Northern Virginia Psychiatric Associates
Dr. Bagley’s clinical experience has included providing psychotherapy services as well as assessment of intellectual, academic, personality, social and emotional functioning. Throughout all of her experiences, she has maintained an interest and focus on working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. She previously served as a liaison to the George Mason University athletic department, providing services to individual student-athletes and consultations to teams, coaches, and athletic department staff.
